Caitlin and Justin~ {engagement photos}

So I used to work with Caitlin and when she contacted me about inquiring about wedding photography I was SO thrilled! Not only is she a beautiful girl but a super cool one too! I knew that this would be a fun shoot! And then I got to meet her fiance Justin, and was equally impressed with him! He has been just as much in the process of the wedding photography planning and I LOVE that! They are meant to be together and I am so excited for these photos and even more excited to photograph their wedding next year! CONGRATS you two and hope you like your photos!

~The Sweet Innocent Moments~{Jared and LeeAnn's Wedding}

You know, I was going through and editing this incredible wedding and noticed some of my "fave" shots were those that were caught with out anyone even knowing my shutter was clicking! I, as a photographer marketing my business, always post and share all of the images from the portrait session and the ceremony and the details of the day, but what about all those photos that I tell my clients I capture when no one is looking?? The ones that can tell a story on their own. The ones that are so sweet and innocent because the are "real" and not posed for the camera...So that gave me the idea for this blog. I LOVE to capture people interacting with one another, sharing a quick hug, laughing and dancing. This shows them as they truly are and it is such a beautiful thing! Enjoy!

They all looked so great in front of the camera! We really lucked out on weather too! Here is a small peek into their shoot! Thank you guys for a great afternoon in Tacoma!

When mom and dad are looking they are on their best behavior....
...but, once those backs are turned...they are true 'Boys Being Boys'~ LOL!

What a great looking couple!
Hope you enjoyed this sneak peek and cannot wait to get the rest of the photos ready for you to see!

10 tips for your photo shoot!~

Ten Tips for your photo shoot

  1. Decide on a “feel” or Theme for your shoot. Some ideas for the “feel” would be sexy, classic, flirty, sporty or fun. A theme idea could be Urban, country, nature, vintage or rustic. Once you figure out the feel or theme you can then better come up with a perfect location!

Here is an example of an urban theme choice...

And here is one for nature theme

Here is a casual sports idea:

they are both big Boston fans and wanted that captured!

2. Once location is chosen, think about what to wear! You should coordinate your outfit style to the feel of the location. It is best if you pick out 2-3 outfits too that would be easy to change into while out on location. Having different outfits in the same location can create a whole different look. A suggestion; bring a fun and trendy and more casual look and one more dressy, semi formal look Also, you want to coordinate with those in the photos with you. You do not need to match but keep your styles similar and in the matching color schemes. This will create a better impact for the overall photo. Here are some clothing tips too: Try to wear solid colors, layer your look, bright colors are fun, cute trendy shoes are always great, and pick clothes that are most flattering for you, not what is most in style. Try to AVOID logos, busy patterns such as stripes and polka dots, and unflattering outfits.

Here is an example of nice solid colors that are not to "matchy" but coordinated...

Here is another nice solid color coordinated look:

3.Be Comfortable! You want to look great for your photos but don’t go out and buy the trendiest outfit that is way out of your comfort zone, If you are not comfortable in the clothes it will translate in your photos. You want to pick an outfit (or outfits) that will flatter you and make you feel your best

Here is a photo of myself in an outfit that I felt best in:
4. Don’t forget to ACCESSORIZE! Lots or a couple accessories can go a long way! Great earrings and scarf, or those textured tights, hair accessories are the quickest way to liven up a photo, great shoes and hats, ties, and great watches for guys are great too! There are many choices, find what makes you feel great and wear it!

Here is an example of a small hair flower, but look how soft and pretty it makes this image:

5. If possible, get your hair and makeup professionally done! If you do not have a regular hair dresser or makup artist I can refer you to some great ones in the industry that I know and trust! Beside, is there a better way to start a photo shoot than just after being pampered and beautified??

6. Bring props! Especially those that have a special meaning! Pictures, gifts from each other, chalk boards to write cute notes to each other, save the date signs, and what ever else you can come up with!

Here is a maternity prop! this little bear has the recording of their daughters heartbeat:

Here is another one, Evan is a huge sea hawks fan and always has his mega phone and cheering pom with him!

Here is one with a bride and her mother and what her mother chose to write on the chalk board:

7. Bring pacific northwest props! Things like cute umbrellas, hats, cute rain jackets, and maybe and all weather blanket that we could put on the ground to take some cute seated shots and not have to get wet from the damp PNW grass!

8. Be ready for ANYTHING! I strive to create beautiful and very unique photos which sometimes means it may require you to sit in an unlikely place, climb a small hill, kiss your lover in PUBLIC, walk out in a field, or lay on the ground! I will try to keep you as comfortable as possible while doing so, however if I get caught up in a moment and ask you to do something you are just not comfortable with please let me know!!

9. Speak up! If you have a vision or saw an image that you just have to have in your shoot, tell me! I strive to make these photos just the way YOU want them! This always helps if you let me know ahead of time too, you can call, email, facebook, text me! Lots of ways to let me know! Or you can just let me know at the shoot too! Not a problem!

10. BE yourself!!! I want to capture YOU and the real you! Not the one that straightens up and shows me the biggest smile when I pick up my camera! Yes, I will direct you through your shoot, but it is all the innocent moments of you being you that I will strive to document. So just look at this experience as a day out with your loved ones and a friend with her camera to be able to preserve your MOMENTS!

Here are a few sweet moments that I caught in between shots:
